Pure and Simple is Kirk MacDonald's latest release. New Beginnings - Kirk MacDonald’s release on Radioland was nominated for both a 2001 Juno Award as well as a Canadian Indie Music Award. The Atlantic Sessions - his previous release, has garnered rave reviews and has received two of Canada’s most prestigious music awards. The 1999 Juno Award for Best Mainstream Jazz Release and The 1999 Jazz Report Award for Album of the Year. In addition, Kirk won The 1999 Jazz Report Award for Tenor Saxophonist of the Year. As a member of The Chris Mitchell Quintet, Kirk MacDonald also received The 1999 Prix de Jazz from the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
